The official notification for the Indian Army Agniveer Vacancy 2026 has been released, indicating around 25,000+ (expected) vacancies in a variety of professions such as GD, Tradesman, Technical, Soldier Pharma, and others.

Candidates should have passed 12th, 10th, & 8th grades.

Class 10th/Matric pass with 45% in the aggregate of five fundamental subjects, with minimum of 33% in each of those courses. Grades comparable with percentages listed above will be evaluated for boards using the grading scheme mentioned above. Indian Gorkhas: Class 10th simple pass.

Candidates who have taken the class 10th Board Exam and are awaiting the results are also eligible to apply if they meet all other qualification requirements. Such candidates, however, will only be selected if they present the original marksheet during Phase II of the recruiting process.

Age Limit for Indian Army Agniveer Recruitment

  • Minimum age: 17 ½ years.
  • Maximum age: 22 years.
  • Candidates born between July 1, 2005 & July 1, 2009 (both days inclusive) are eligible to apply.

Age relaxation applies in accordance with the guidelines.

  • The upper age limit shall be relaxed up to 30 years of age (as of the date of entering training) for widows of Defence servicemen who died in harness.
  • Note: Women who are widowed, divorced, or legally separated are also eligible if they do not have any children & meet all other eligibility criteria. Widows of deceased Defence Personnel in Harness will be eligible to apply for enlistment as Women Military Police. Such widows, even those with children, will only be eligible if they have not remarried.

Physical Standards

Height: 162 cm.
Chest Expansion: Applicants should be able to expand his or her chest by 5 cm.
Weight: Weight requirements are dependent on BMI, as seen in the chart below.

Special Physical Standards

Candidates from following regions will be given 4 centimeter height relaxation:

  • North East Region: Sikkim, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Tripura, Mizoram, Meghalaya, & Assam.
  • Gorkhas.
  • Garhwalis.
  • Ladakher.
  • Tribals from recognized tribal territory.

Note: The domicile and caste certificate will be used to establish the applicability of height relaxation.

Selection Process

  • Phase I – Online Common Entrance Exam (CEE): Conducted in computer-based exam centers. This will be done for those who have been provisionally shortlisted. Admission to examination will be granted solely on basis of the admit card. The CEE will be held at authorized places between June 1 and June 15, 2026.
  • Phase II – Recruitment Rally: Candidates would be shortlisted proportionately to the available openings based on their CEE aggregate scores. Shortlisted candidates will visit Recruitment Rally at designated location, where they will undergo physical fitness test, physical measurement test, medical test, & document verification.

Fitness Test

  • 1.6 Kilometre Run
  • Group I: Up to 7 minutes, 45 seconds – Excellent
  • Group II: 7 min 46 sec to 8 min 30 sec – Good.
  • Long jump: 10 feet (needs to qualify)
  • High jump: 3 feet needed to qualify)

Medical Standards

Applicants must be in good physical & mental health, free of any impairments that would interfere with efficient performance of task.
A detailed medical examinations in accordance with Army standard.

Final Merit List for Indian Army Agniveer Recruitment

The final merit list will be based on the combination of CEE scores and PFT results (if applicable).
